Bored soldiers at play
More bored soldier stuff
Not sure why they tried to pu up a basketball hoop
See how well the cammo keeps us cool
The plastic version of my personal oven
The view from my steel personal oven
Your standard extremely hot Steel Guard tower
Here are some pictures from my guard post! Lots of fun. Hope you like them!

man! if that wasnt so tragic it would be hilarious...actually it is pretty funny...being couped up with another guy in what really is a 7yr olds Tree Fort. Playing hangman is classic... Tue 19-Aug-2003 17:50

The worst thing is, how do you win at hangman when the other guy spells it "Kuwaiti" with a "y"? Wed 20-Aug-2003 12:45

ideas for things to take with you to pass the time:
-deck of cards.
-deck of tarot cards.
-a crochet hook and a ball of string
-knitting needles and a ball of string/yarn
-no needles and a ball of string and knot macramé bracelets, necklaces, keychains, belts...
-a checkered handkercheif and spare change to use as red vs black checkers pieces
-same checkered handkerchief and use toothpaste to shine up a set of spare change, to designate chess pieces. dull is black, shined is white. pennies are pawns, dimes, nickels, quarters are knights, bishops, rooks, etc. fold up a dollar bill for the queen, a bigger denomination for the king.
-square papers from the trash to fold origami figures. hang from guard tower with dental floss to decorate
-found objects like broken bottles, shrapnel, dangling pieces of wire, make windchimes to hang on tower for interesting sounds to break up the monotony.
-anyone play harmonica?
-drill a piece of pipe and play the flute. practice till you get the spacing right.
- wire together a rack of pipes in graduating lengths, and make pan pipes to play.
-use an empty can for a drum. or several.also works: 55 gallon, 5 gallon buckets. igloo cylinders. glance around. racks make great crash cymbals. refrigerator, oven, any kind of metal grid. window bars, dead radiator grilles.etc.
-tambourine: out of shrapnel and cut around a can rim and wire. be creative.
-make a japanese Go board and use rocks from the desert floor as markers. get the board from the net, print out, transfer with a pen onto a piece of cloth you can wad up in your pocket. use big stones for white, little stones for black.
-if you're anywhere where there's dry vegetation, collect a pack of straight twigs to play pick-up-sticks
-challenge each other with taking turns asking trivial pursuit questions. change categories every day. or every hour.
-wager on your games. use stones to keep track of bettings and winnings.
-play 20 questions
...there. that ought to help.

Dude, you are so in our thoughts.

Another activity we sometimes play when we are bored as hell...

"One million dollars"

Query each other on things you would or wouldn't do for a cool mil. Would you strip bare ass nekkid and run around the tree house? If you would do it for a mil, would you do it for $500K? 50K? 5K? $500? $50? $5?

Would you have sex with Martha stewart?
Would you renounce your U.S. citizenship and never return? (Where would you go)?
Would you have sex with Janet Reno?

Get as perverse as possible.

While I enjoyed the other suggestions, I felt they lacked some level of connection with the 20-something male psyche.

Hey,
The drawing of the guy on the wall looks like a Military Beavis!
You are too cool!
