hey thor, don't feel bad about that heavy looking necklace with the red gems. that thing would look gaudy and obnoxious on anyone but the queen of england in full drag!! trust me--no younger woman could carry it off. it's for aging dowagers that look like powdered potatoes. and where the hell would your wife have to ever wear it???
no, stare all you want, but be glad you can't get it. a piece like that ends up wearing the person, and not the other way around.
hope you got her something delicate and classic, that will always look right on her, for the rest of her life. a woman who wants gaudy, showy, big honking stuff has her priorities on back wards.
so glad you got to get out and feel normal for a while.

As Janet says, good decision on the "rocks". I've been married for more than 25 years, and I've learned: go for the "afghan" ear rings, the delicate, complicated, but light pieces. If I bought here something heavy, she would say, "You mean I'm old, don't you?"
